Pilgrimage of Dreams 23

Asteria grabs the stack of hand written pamphlets that Meir gave her. It was filled with dense writing of numerology.

There was obvious sign of dark circle that underlined Meir eyes. Meir indeed pulls almost an all-nighter even after using ether to print the solution and question in the paper from her memory.

It was a stack from middle grade till high school after all.

Asteria smiles, her face beaming brightly.

“Thank you Ruru, you are the best. I seem to like you more and more”

She just casually mentions the other time of wanting to have more of such numerology but did not really expect to be given such a thick pile of it the next time she came again.

Asteria seems to like Meir a bit more.

Asteria like her when she perceives that Meir gaze always remain constant even after Meir knows that she will die early. She does not have a gaze that tells that Asteria is useless object.

Celestial dwellers that will not live long are useless as it will not be able to assist the empire.

There was no sympathetic gaze either.

Although there was no sympathy, Meir still started treating her better unconsciously. Not an act of sympathy that she treats her well but an act of consolation out of kindness.

Yes, Meir has an unusually kind heart that she seems to deny. Putting up a front of coldness and indifference but her real self is actually a tender one.

It’s cute…

But Asteria felt that Meir will flip out at her if she told her that she think she (Meir) is cute.

Asteria felt that spending her short life with this cute person is quite a pleasant thing. The way she drag her big and long robe, how she fold the sleeves laboriously and how she hug her patchwork teddy bear with that cold expression on her little face and most of all, her cute contrasting personality, a thorny indifferent front with a hidden tender heart.

It is extremely cute, at least to Asteria.

Meir is a very pleasant friend to have. One heart will be at ease if they have a friend like her.

Even her star natal charts have shown a strong sign of loyalty. But with how strong her loyalty is, it is just as hard to earn her loyalty. The Star never lies.

Getting acknowledgement from this kind of person is hard. Even now, Asteria knows that she has gains no acknowledgement from Meir. Meir has not even asked what her name was yet.

Meir who has no idea that the astrologist before her has a very appalling thought of labelling her as cute ignores the nonsense she was spouting. About her talking how she like her.

Meir walks towards her seat, pick up the incantation book and prepared to read them again, no longer paying attention to the astrologer girl.

The astrologer girl pulls out the chair and sat on it, working on the stack of numerology.

Meir took a peak at her when the chair is pull out, checking out her working on the math she wrote down all night while losing a sleep.

Meir has no sympathy on the girl before her. There are specific people that can earn her sympathy but not her.

It was only a soft-heartedness on her part that makes Meir to treat her a bit better to the short lived girl but Meir will never admit that she has such softness.

“Ruru, why do you keep looking at me? Am I very pretty”

Asteria who feel the gaze of Meir shamelessly asked.

Meir however is not the type of person that is easily embarrassed in this kind of situation.

“I want to ask, you say the star never lies but why do you keep visiting our manor those times? Did the star lie to you?”

It was just a curiosity on Meir part.

“Oh no, the star did say I won’t be able to meet you but your star natal chart say that you are a very indifferent person and does not acknowledge people existence. You may be kind hearted, sympathetic and showing a goodwill to a person but that does not mean you acknowledge them” Asteria taps her chin “I just want to forge my presence so that you won’t forget my existent. I came by just to brush my presence. Not too often though because you will be too fed up with me”

‘As if I am not fed up with you visiting the manor occasionally’

Meir thought in exasperation.

Meir turns her head away not really wanting to chat with her as she does not really have a thing to say more.

Asteria also bends her head down with a faint smile.

Her constant persistent visit of the duke manor is well worth as Meir asked her about her visit, indicating that she took notice of her.
